Unique & Boutique Hotels in the Midwest We’ve Stayed At

There’s a certain kind of travel we always come back to. Places with history, personality, and a sense that the walls have stories. These aren’t just hotels we’ve booked for convenience. They’re stays that became part of the trip itself.

Here are some of our favorite unique and boutique hotels across the Midwest.

(all photos below by me! Except the one I’m in. lol)

Crescent Hotel

Crescent Hotel
Eureka Springs, Arkansas

We first stayed here with couple friends a few years ago, and it immediately became one of those places you don’t forget.

This photo is from the night of a New Year’s Eve party. One of those nights where the building itself feels like part of the celebration. Historic, a little eerie in the best way, and completely full of character.

Photo below of our jazzy outfits for the NYE party!!

Crossroads Hotel

Crossroads Hotel
Kansas City, Missouri

We stayed here for a weekend getaway in Kansas City when we went to see Bleachers in concert. It’s one of those hotels that feels effortlessly designed and cool in a way that still feels warm and welcoming. We had drinks at the rooftop bar and delicious food at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel.

Belvoir Winery & Inn

Belvoir Winery & Inn
Liberty, Missouri

We have stayed here so many times now. It has been featured on Ghost Adventures, Destination Fear, Kindred Spirits, and more on the Travel Channel. There is something about the history and atmosphere here that keeps pulling us (me) back. It literally doesn’t feel like a suburb of Kansas City.

Vinchester Inn

Vinchester Inn
Hermann, Missouri

This was an anniversary trip for us. We spent the weekend exploring Hermann and visited around 15 wineries while we were there. The Vinchester Inn was the perfect place to stay while we slowed down and enjoyed the entire experience of the town. It was within walking distance of a lot in downtown Hermann.

voco The Tiger Hotel

voco The Tiger Hotel
Columbia, Missouri

We stayed here for my cousin’s wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel has such a beautiful blend of historic charm and elevated design.
We took the long way home after the next day and visited 4 wineries!

Iron Horse Hotel

Iron Horse Hotel
Blackwater, Missouri

I actually won tickets from Missouri Wine to the Missouri State Fair and this was the only hotel available about 30 minutes away. It ended up being such a pleasant surprise and completely worth the stay. Sometimes the unexpected places end up being the most memorable.

Isinglass Estate

Isinglass Estate
La Cygne, Kansas

This was my birthday weekend last year. We visited four wineries in the area and stayed here to make a full getaway out of it. It was peaceful, scenic, and exactly the kind of slow weekend I wanted.

Grand Central Hotel

Grand Central Hotel
Eureka Springs, Arkansas

This is where we stayed for that New Year’s trip. We did a spa day at the 1905 Spa in the Basin Park Hotel, stayed at the Grand Central, and then went to the Crescent Hotel for the party. The whole weekend felt like one connected experience through Eureka Springs.

The Mayo Hotel

The Mayo Hotel
Tulsa, Oklahoma

I stayed here for a conference and honestly it was stunning. Even though it was a work trip, the hotel itself made everything feel elevated. The architecture, the lobby, and the overall atmosphere are all unforgettable.
